Ümlaut Transloading is a BNSF Premier Transload Facility in Springfield, Missouri, with capacity for more than 100 railcars on our privately owned yard tracks. We connect rail and truck transportation through flexible handling services — including rail-to-truck transloading, truck-to-rail loading, truck-to-truck transfer, super sacking, and bulk conveyor handling — with dry or cold storage options through Springfield Underground. Both companies are part of The Erlen Group, a family of Springfield-based industrial businesses founded in 1946.

Truck-to-Rail Loading
Ship products by rail for long-haul, high-volume, or cost-sensitive moves. Trucks deliver product to our facility and we load it into railcars for outbound rail movement via BNSF. Ideal for manufacturers and distributors looking to reduce trucking costs on high-volume lanes.
Rail-to-Truck Transloading
Products arrive by rail and are transferred to trucks for regional delivery. Use the cost advantage of rail for long hauls, then distribute by truck to destinations that aren't rail-served. We handle the transfer — you handle the rest.
Truck-to-Truck Transfer
Need to change equipment types, break a load, or consolidate freight without involving rail? We can receive trucks and reload product into different trucks — giving customers a flexible transfer point in the center of the country.
Super Sacking & Bag Filling
We transfer bulk product from railcars or trucks into super sacks (1-2 ton bulk bags) or smaller bags for customer distribution. This service is used by agricultural, industrial, and chemical customers who receive bulk and need to distribute in packaged form.
Railcar Staging & Yard Capacity
With more than 100 railcar spaces across our privately owned yard tracks — including covered underground storage — Umlaut can hold railcars before, during, and after transloading. This gives customers flexibility on timing and reduces detention costs.
Dry & Cold Storage
